Here's the guide we give every wedding client who sits in our chair.
The ideal wedding haircut timeline
Book your final haircut three to four days before the wedding. Any closer and the skin might still be slightly irritated from a fresh fade or razor line. Any earlier and the shape starts to soften. A Tuesday or Wednesday appointment for a Saturday wedding is the sweet spot. If you're trying a new style or a new barber, book a trial cut six to eight weeks out so you know exactly how it grows in.
Should you shave on the wedding day?
For most grooms, a hot-towel straight-razor shave the day before the wedding is the better move. It gives the skin 18 to 24 hours to settle, eliminates any redness, and leaves a clean, matte finish that photographs beautifully. If you have sensitive skin or a heavy beard, do a test shave a month ahead so you know how your face reacts.
Beard sculpting vs. a full shave
A well-shaped beard photographs just as well as a clean shave — sometimes better. The key is definition. We sculpt the cheek lines, taper the neck, and detail the mustache so it looks intentional in close-up photos. Book beard sculpting for the same three-to-four-day window as the haircut.
Groomsmen group bookings
We can block off a morning or afternoon for the whole wedding party. Most groups book three to five chairs back-to-back on the Wednesday or Thursday before a Saturday wedding. It keeps everyone on the same schedule, guarantees the same barber team, and turns the appointment into a relaxed pre-wedding ritual instead of a rushed errand.
What to bring to the appointment
Bring reference photos, your wedding timeline, and any notes from your photographer about lighting or angles. If the wedding is outdoors in LA sun, we may leave the skin fade slightly softer so it doesn't look too harsh in bright light. If it's a black-tie evening wedding, we can go sharper and more polished.
Book early during LA wedding season
Spring and fall are the busiest wedding seasons in Los Angeles, and our Saturday slots fill two to three weeks in advance. For group bookings, reach out at least a month ahead. We'll hold the chairs, send reminders, and make sure the whole party looks sharp for the photos.
